OUR VET NURSES
Bree
Bree started with Altona Veterinary Clinic in June 2010. She has been a veterinary nurse for 6 years and obtained her Certificate IV in Veterinary Nursing at Victoria University in 2008.
Prior to joining our team at A.V.C , she worked at a clinic that specialised in small animal reproduction, where she was mainly a surgical nurse but also assisted the reproduction specialist in his work and ran Puppy Pre-School, and was also a nutritional advisor for a short time for a pet food company.
Bree's interests include; small animal anaesthesia and surgery, animal behaviour and small animal reproduction.
Bree's beloved companions at home include, a black German Shepherd named Ebbonie, whom is very intelligent and requires a lot of work. A Siberian Husky named Meekah, whom is Bree's million dollar dog, that has had just about everything under the sun wrong with her and a very talkative and cheeky Indian Ringneck Parrot named Paulie.
Kim
Kim has been working at Altona Veterinary Clinic since March 2010. Some of you may have met her already, particularly if your pet has had surgery, as she is one of our surgery nurses. Kim has been veterinary nursing since 1999. Born in Scotland, she moved to Australia in 2004 where she worked at a few different clinics but was not yet settled.
In 2008, Kim and her partner moved to Emerald in central Queensland. There she worked in a human hospital before coming to her senses and moving back down to Melbourne to get back into veterinary nursing - and just in time for Melbourne's coldest winter in years.
Kim has two cats - ‘Marcellus' who is a bad-tempered tabby and ‘Hedwig', a black and white cat who needs to go on a diet! Kim's love of animals is not restricted to domestic pets. She LOVES great white sharks and one of her biggest dreams is to go diving with them. Let's hope she can fulfil that dream soon.
Kylie
Kylie, a certified veterinary nurse, is a recent newcomer to our clinic. You are likely to meet Kylie at the reception desk when your pet comes in for a consultation, or if your pet is in for surgery.
Since finishing High School in 2005, she studied various courses such as creative writing & business management. Once coming to her senses Kylie completed her Certificate III in Companion Animal Services and then went on to complete her Certificate IV in Veterinary Nursing at the end of 2010.
Kylie has a particular interest in canine health and behaviour and outside of work her interests include reading, shopping & many other things.
Kylie has a cheeky 4 month old West Highland Terrier called Noah and a 5 year old Rottweiler called Chunx, whom she loves dearly.
Kelly
Kelly has been part of the Altona Veterinary Clinic since November 2004, leaving in December 2005 to have her first baby, Paige, in January 2006. During her time away from the clinic, Kelly has been (and still is!) undertaking her science degree on a part time basis at Melbourne Uni and had her second baby, Will, in February 2008. Kelly rejoined the Altona Vet Clinic in November 2009 and has been very happy to be back in the work force again, seeing some familiar faces, welcoming new clients and getting to know their furry friends.
In Kelly's ‘spare' time, she likes jogging and enjoys playing the snare drum in the Moorabbin City Pipe Band - the band winning every competition it played in the 2011 competition season, which was a great achievement!
Kelly's mini menagerie includes 2 beautiful golden retrievers, Bonnie (14 years old this month!) and Tallulah (18 months and crazy), 2 male cats, Joey and Chandler and one deaf female cat, Delilah, who is full of personality and lives daily with the misconception that she is the boss of everyone and everything.
You will meet Kelly at the clinic on Saturdays or Mondays, where she would have been with your pet in surgery for the day, or will welcome you at the reception.
Louise
Louise joined the team at AVC early in 2011. She began her nursing career in 2002 and went on to complete her Vet Nursing studies in 2005. She then went on to become a registered microchip implanter and recently completed her Cert 3 + 4 in Human Pathology collection just for interest's sakes! Louise thrives on the challenge of accident and emergency care but loves all areas of her work. She lives far away from work in the country with her beautiful 9yr old Border Collie Cheiko and their 6 chooks Brownie, Dot, Freckles, Pecker, Googey and Choco.
Louise dislikes being couped up indoors so when not at work you will find her hiking, fishing, gardening and travelling, basically doing anything that keeps her active and outdoors. Her favourite activity of all time is snowboarding and she pretty much counts down every 9 months of the year for the snow to return.
